Infinity’s Extant…

Wants drifting,
Farmer Choice
To
Thresher Wind
Shifting
Salvation’s Captain
Beginning’s End
Lifting
His ‘share,
Sword?
And
Spun
Shame
Reaping
Twelve
Hours in an instant
Turned
Round
Remembered
Keeping
Vigil,
-Pulled by
Death
Looming
Painful-
Yet
Persistent
Seconds drop
Given-blood
Bread-blooming,
Gainful
And
Insistent.
Over
And over…
Again
Consuming, a…
Borne,
Bequeathed-
An amber
Bouquet
Of limner-life
Swiftly lived,
Surrendered
Eternal Essence
In every grain
Crushed
Hereby
Engendered
The Faithful
Found
Fused for us
Infinity’s Extant
Flesh and blood
Provendered.

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” -Genesis 2
“And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” -Genesis 3
“who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” -Philippians 2
“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”” -John 9
“Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.” -John 11
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” -John 1
“He shall judge between many peoples, And rebuke strong nations afar off; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore.” –Micah 4
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.” -Matthew 5
“You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, And brought them water out of the rock for their thirst, And told them to go in to possess the land Which You had sworn to give them.” –Nehemiah 9
“This do in remembrance of Me.” -I Corinthians 11
“For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are but dust.” -Psalms 103
“Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.” -John 6
“Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.” –John 4
“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.” And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.” -Matthew 26
“… if you seek Me, let these men go.” This was to fulfill the word that he had spoken: “Of those whom you gave me I have lost not one.” Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.) So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup that the Father has given me?”” -John 18
““Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”” -Luke 22

Daring Her To Doubt…

In those clouded, foreign eyes
And beneath these gray,
My mother’s fading skies
She… slips away
Smiling…
Wound
In a heavy grief,
A fate-defying frolic
Bound
Prayer for relief
Bleeds out
Life’s question
Burning
Her mourner’s
Fading shout…
It’s almost like He’s
Turning,
Daring her to doubt
His face.
The grace-rich ruler of
Her own youthful bout,
She must ask,
Herself the question,
Will I go away sad,
Without… ?

Love of the Letter… But What of The Word?
November 17, 2016
An evening with an angelAnd The Door kept knocking!
The chance of a life of lifetimes!
And the cherub glanced, rocking.
“Please, please just-
Just ignore.”
I ask distracted
Like the dozen times before
Now
Questions …more
I’ve got a few left actually,
Forty- mmmmhhh…
Forty-four.
“Eh? Home is calling?
Why, what a fuss!
Goodbye’s now falling-
Rift be tween us.
With naught but
5 answered- 2 minutes each!
And still my miraculous audience -what-
Hadn’t brought God within reach
Of a mind
Now merely frustrated
When I ought to have been
Well,
Rather elated.
“One last question
Before you go-
A nagging thing
I’ve just got to know:
Who was it knocking
The door thus and so?”
“Oh, that was my Master
But you …kept saying no,”
The book replied
Whither… ?

A guitar sits in a lost kitty’s corner
Without a single string strung
Still
Years before they’d either been broken,
Tuned too tight by an eager will,
Or bitterly removed and flung
But found and wound
Into rust prone rings
(Like dim and dormant
Dust known things)
Shapes
Rhyming poetic promises
That couldn’t keep?
Wouldn’t be kept
Amongst simpler stories
Sorrow swept
Into a cornered,
Shrewd, and suspect silence
A question
Spun of prayer-seen stars
For a prophet’s plaited God
Like ours…
Like yours
Like mine
Like ours.
Life Given Light
October 20, 2016
We sense it
In our hollow bone’s calling
Midnight’s sky
Some beautiful sight…
And these meteors
Well,
They simply make it more
-so-
Right?
But it also must be shared,
What we, all, ready, really know:
This spectacle we’ve come to enjoy so
-These streaks of green light fancy-
Oh!
How it takes a
Steady heaven stone’s
Falling
Finally
Before we see.
