The Ocean, Deep

May 19, 2017

this II
We’ve all got a bit
Of the ocean
Deep
Inside us.
Remember?
How we taste it when we weep?
It ebbs
It flows
It crashes! and rolls
It’s a worldwild mask
O’er the secrets that we keep:
Madding memories
Hidden amidst
The mighty blue
Sinker of ships,
And longings lost
With lovers’ lips
On ocean floors
Forever.
(It’s an ancient thirst
To know The First
Want
Sated by
Perpetual want
In horizon’s
Eternal endeavours.)
And gnarled wrecks,
On the sweetest reefs,
And dances with
The water-wiling moon.
Salt cursed
This thirst
Is its own remedy
By heaven’s purpose,
Strewn
Like legends along
The wild seashore
Of our intrepid souls,
We’ve all got a bit
Of the ocean deep
Inside
Us,
Calling us
-Making us-
Whole.
