Mercy’s God…

Does it mean nothing
More to You?

I caught that hurt
And held it-
Shame
In view-

Between the light
And doubts of day,
Among all the amalgamations
Left loose along the way.

I chucked them in
The pickup truck
And
Though my chagrin
Was plain,

I made it,
Still,
Although
Mudstuck.

(Those tire-tracks remain.)

But while the edges
Of that little world,
Licked by lies flames,
Writhed and curled

I mourned.

Cries
Of selfless desire!

That Summer’s sky
Was a sketch on fire

And went
We
With it
Up in smoke

The day after
Mortal
Tenderness
Provoked…

Provoked…

Ahh!

The mysterious confidence
Of mercy’s God.
