Demands for Grace
November 18, 2014
These sleepy eyes
Soft, snowy skies
Behind this mind all moving
Wise(?)
With the subtlety
Of all of me
And failures thus improving
On the sight
Of metered might
Past minc-ed mercy’s losing.
I went away
For a fear-and-a-day
And found a heartwild,
Pining
For somewhat else
Sweet deeper wells.
Sad symphonies refining
The discontent
Where’er we went
And rebellion estranging
A sound not unlike
The likes of delight…
Deft cacophony arranging
All the tears
(Matched
By all the fears
Hatched
Having led down to this place,)
And all the unmet why’s
In darkening, fair eyes,
Deepening demands for grace
Along with an aversion to it.
For, although we knew it
We could not enter in.
Without conviction.
Self-interdiction,
Still sipping
At our
Sin.
