If The Fall Is Waiting…

November 1, 2013

fall tree cliff leaf

And if the fall is waiting,
Waiting…
Over the blurry edge of things,
Then Fall is here, relating,
Abating,
As the dry leaf so gently swings

(From high too low?
From life, two deaths?)
On wind-sung songs
With Spring’s last breaths.

I’ve always sort of
Fought with Fall.
Still, here we go again:
Pit in my stomach
At gravity’s call,
Wing-born, above preisen.
